GIVE TURKEY A TWIST WITH CHINESE INGREDIENTS.(LIFE & LEISURE)

Byline: CATHY THOMAS Orange County Register

Think roast turkey.

Nine times out of 10, a Norman Rockwell-style scene springs to mind.

You know the illustration. Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family. Or Christmas Day.

Now shift the roast-turkey scenario to a sunny patio or park. The turkey platter is plastic great for outdoor serving. The bird is a deep mahogany color, dotted with Chinese Szechuan peppercorns. It smells incredible.

No reason to relegate turkey to November and December. Turkey tastes great regardless of weather. Especially if you jazz it up with some tangy ethnic spices. Serve it hot. Or serve it cold picnic-style if you like. And keep the menu simple.

No complex kitchen choreography. No turkey two-step. Save those complicated …
